Mill Outlet Fabric Shop

SUPER SERVICE ● SUPER SELECTION ● SINCE 1965

About Us

Mill Outlet Fabric Shop was created by Richard Weightman in 1965. After 29 years Richard decided it was time to retire and sold the business to long time employee Ingrid Kuehn and her husband Johann in 1994. Their family was a big part of the shop. After 27 years they decided it was time to enjoy life and retire. Natalie Mielke purchased the fabric shop and took over operations October 1, 2021. Her daughter and granddaughters are an important addition to the shop. You will frequently see the girls running around the store (or hear them from the back).

Natalie never imagined she would own a fabric shop. For the past 25 years she prepared accounting records and tax returns. In addition, she also managed a business at Meadow Lake Airport in Falcon, Colorado for the past 14 years on the weekends. The airport was her “happy place” where she became extremely close to Rudy Welch. He was 94 and became extremely ill at the end of 2020. Instead of sending him to a hospice she and her daughter decided to do his hospice at their home for his last 6 months. There was lots of love, smiles and giggles while he was with them. Since the business at the airport was no longer in business Natalie was looking for a “new happy” place. It just so happened that she discovered Mill Outlet Fabric Shop was for sale. The purchase just fell into place and was just meant to be.

Mill Outlet is known for having the odd items that can’t be found elsewhere. The odd items will continue to be available and they are looking to increase the variety. To name a few items, available in multiple sizes and colors: slide buckles, cam buckles, D-rings, hooks, cording, cord locks, webbing, Velcro, and over 3,000 different styles of buttons just to name a few.

There are several different types of fabrics such as cottons, silks, satins, velvet, rayons, linens, jersey, fleece, spandex and wool just to list a few. They also have a variety of upholstery and drapery fabric including the hardware. In addition, there is duck cloth, cordura, oil cloth, gauze, outdoor fabrics and pillow forms.

The shop is improving every week with the help of her daughter, Tiffany Morin, and amazingly wonderful staff. You will notice things are being moved, cleaned, and organized within the store. It is like Christmas every week as there could be anywhere between 5 and 200 bolts received. As fabric is ordered 6 months in advance it is always a great surprise when we receive fabric.

If you haven’t been in for a while, please stop in and let them know if you like the improvements. They are always looking for great ideas and suggestions so the shop is your “happy place” too.
